Research in Geosciences

The School of Geosciences offers an opportunity to build on the knowledge and experience gained during your degree or professional experience through research. The school is renowned for its high standards in teaching and research.
 
The Monash School of Geosciences has a large and dynamic postgraduate community. Students’ at all postgraduate levels come together from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds to create a productive scientific and active social atmosphere. Postgraduate studies in the school encompass the entire spectrum of "geosciences", with an emphasis on teamwork within the student body to facilitate interdisciplinary research and learning. We are consistently rated as one of the most successful Geoscience departments in Australia, and have a large and vibrant research community of academic staff, research staff, and postgraduate students. We have active collaborations with other universities within Australia and overseas, research institutions  such as CSIRO, industry, and state and federal government agencies.

Researchers at Monash have access to an enviable range of analytical and technical equipment  for geochemical analyses of rocks, minerals and waters, stable and radiogenic isotopes, geophysical measurements, fieldwork, and sample collection and preparation.
